The Slaves encountered many hardships when they were taken for slavery. They suffered terribly when they were on the ship to their destination. From Africa the slaves had to travel through seas to America but also to Asia and Europe. Many got seasick and threw up on themselves and because the ships were so unsanitary a lot of the slaves died. Under the decks of the ships was where all the slaves were put were it smelled bad because they did not have restrooms and they were left with no other choice then to be covered in their own feces and urine. The heat of the climate did not help them at all since it was so crowded it got very suffocating and it made the smell worse. Other things were that when the Africans were taken into slavery they were taken from their homes and separated from their family. Sometimes a whole family was taken into slavery and they would be separated and taken to different places causing them to never see each other again. Many times the children were the only ones being kidnapped and sometimes they were sold by their families by a variety of reasons.Once the slaves were sold they suffered even more. Many were beaten for no reason and others were starved. They had poor clothing and no where to sleep. They had to work and got paid little to nothing.
